So yes. Please. Don’t be a jerk, stop with the whitewashing “facts” and get on with your lives. How about finding something a bit more meaningful to bitch about?

Or better yet, find something to actually do about instead of just bitching in your blog.. volunteer at or donate money to organizations that actually fight for equality, maybe?

I just don’t see how filling up an actor’s tag with useless pathetic whining does any good to anyone. It only upsets the fans and I don’t see how that’s making the world a better place.

It’s important to think about. Rather than immediately taking umbrage, let us stop for a moment and seriously consider the very real issue of whitewashing in the media.

I’m a huge BC fan and think he was an excellent choice of villain in STID. This does not negate the issue, only makes it a bit more cloudy. I do not wish in any way to detract from his outstanding performance (it’s all I can do not to sneak off to the cinema to see Star Trek again and re-experience Benedict Cumberbatch’s scene-stealing baddie) - it was enthralling.

But making one’s voice heard is doing something. Urging others to consider a social problem from a new perspective is doing something.

And thinking does make the world a better place.

Yes, that line nearly took me completely out of the film. Even though I knew before I saw Star Trek, and even though I’m a fan of the actor, and even though he’s actually quite a brilliant actor, Khan Noonien Singh? Really? I just can’t with the whitewashing (particularly considering the history of the ST franchise), which leaves me quite divided in my thoughts about what should have just been a fun space action film. During the fight scene between Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Quinto, Spock looks as if he piches Benedict on the shoulder, causing him great pain. This is a Vulcan Nerve Pinch (aka Vulcan Death Grip).

To a normal human, the instant Spock’s fingers come in contact with your nerves, you will pass out. (He does this to Kirk in the first reboot star trek movie) In the new one (Into Darkness), he pinches the antagonist, but out of incredible power and endurance, Cumberbatch doesn’t get knocked out.

This fight scene was literally the best fight scene I have ever beheld.

I’d like to collectively thank the international Tumblr community that has enjoyed spoiling Star Trek Into Darkness for me.

Given how many movies open in the U.S. first, I’m sure I’ll have an opportunity to return the favor sometime soon.

Fucking tell me about it. But. In all fairness. I think imdb screwed me over before any of it for having shit in parenthesis before I was even ON Tumblr. But Conan and someone on tumblr just verified it for me. Dammit.

I am going to see it Saturday and will try to act like I have no idea what is going on, though. I can do that.

You know, I know the Big Spoiler before I went to see it - I think it was Cracked that suggested it, and some rumours are just true, and spoilers are just us pretending.

So the Big Reveal was a bit of a disappointment, but at the same time, not really. The theatre still gasped and screeched, and at another point there was applause. Honestly, there were other scenes that were far better and more intense. You will still thoroughly enjoy the film. I definitely did, even down in my closet-Trekkie heart. (I’m not really a trekkie, but it’s still bits of my childhood - you know.)
